Canadian Mental Health Association Ottawa is supporting the 2013 Celebration of People awards dinner

Nominate people with disabilities and their supporters to get their deserved recognition.

Since her youth, Liz Winkelaar has been dancing. She is now a dance artist, teacher and volunteer with the Propeller Dance Company.  As a performer, her life is full with weekly rehearsals and frequent high-energy performances at dance festivals, schools, galleries, and corporate and community events.  Liz choreographed a dance piece for children, performed last year at the Canadian Space and Aviation Museum, conducted dance workshops at the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre, and even performed in the Senate Chamber on Parliament Hill.

In 2012, Liz Winkelaar deservedly won the Celebration of People awards dinner Artistic Excellence Award, which the Canadian Mental Health Association Ottawa has proudly sponsored for many years. This award recognizes a person with a disability who contributes to the creative and cultural life of our community through his or her chosen artistic medium.

Celebration of People<http://celebrationofpeople.com/> celebrates the accomplishments of people with disabilities and their supporters, and award categories range from accessibility and advocacy to volunteering and youth. Senator Jim Munson is the 2013 Honorary Chair and the event takes place Tuesday, December 3, which is the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
