Hi Folks,



A very important report on Neighbourhood Revitalization is going to Planning Committee on Tuesday March 8th at 9:30 in the Champlain Room at City Hall.
This program will see added resources going into low-income communities over the next three years and into the future. The three recommended communities are Carlington (2016); Heatherington (2017) and Vanier South (2018). It is very important that the community participate in this process since it has the potential to be the biggest and deepest poverty amelioration and low-income community support program in Ottawa since amalgamation. Anybody who has even walked through these communities, never mind lived or worked there, can tell you what the current conditions there mean for those who live there.
This is a unique opportunity to have City and other resources put into these communities to turn them around. One of the reasons we need to be involved is to make sure that the solutions don't a) exclude the community and b) arrive at an answer doesn't respond to the question. These three communities could and should be only the beginning to reconstruct the 20 communities that in the Ottawa Neighbourhood Study's lowest fifth of Ottawa communities.
