Hi Folks,
The province's consultation around the Basic Income pilot is underway. They will be coming to Ottawa on January 24th at the RA Centre from 6:30 to 9 pm. Although this seems far away, please register now if you want to attend since they have limited space and it's first-come, first-served.



Please double-check their email before you register - they had a typo in it which should have been fixed but, just in case, it should be basicincomersvp at ontario.ca instead of basiconcomersvp.
The links below will take you to the discussion paper which outlines what they will be talking about at the meeting in January. The Ottawa Basic Income group, GO4BIG, will be helping people figure out what the options mean - let me know if you want to be added to our mailing list to be kept informed of local activities. 
As many of you will know, I am strongly supportive of the concept of a basic income provided it's done right. This is our opportunity to ensure that it is adequate enough to meet people's needs and doesn't result in the eroding of other services that people depend on.
