[homeles_ot-l] Design-thinking workshop for the homelessness sector

Good morning, bonjour,

My community group Datafest Ottawa (datafestottawa.ca), in concert with the
ESDC Homelessness Partnering Strategy is organizing a November Hackathon to
take on homelessness in Ottawa-Gatineau. However, before the Hackathon can
happen we need to assemble some design-challenges/first hand problem
mapping with front-line service providers to the homeless or those at risk
of homelessness.


At the workshop participants will:
-collaborate with colleagues from across the city to identify every day
challenges and design opportunities to enhance service provision.

-provide valuable input into the upcoming weekend-long hackathon on
homelessness where members of the social innovation and civic tech
communities will work to create innovative solutions to the real challenges
identified by professionals who provide front-line services to the homeless
or those at risk of homelessness.


It is important that workshop participants be front-line service providers
to the homeless or those at risk of homelessness in our region, or know
front-line challenges very well.

The workshop takes place at 1125Carleton (Carleton campus) next Thursday
from 9AM-12PM. Below I am including the formal invitations from the
Homelessness Partnering Strategy team.

partenariats de lutte contre l’itinérance (SPLI) d’Emploi et Développement
social Canada, de concert avec Datafest Ottawa, vous invite à l’Atelier de
remue-méninge communautaire sur l’itinérance. La SPLI est à la recherche
d’organismes qui desservent la population des sans‑abri et des personnes à
risque de le devenir pour se joindre à elle afin d’explorer comment les
technologies et d’autres innovations peuvent soutenir les activités du
secteur.

*CONTEXTE*

En tant qu’organisme communautaire, vous êtes invité à cerner vos problèmes
les plus pressants dans votre travail quotidien. L’HCCI sera l’occasion de
partager vos idées et vos expériences dans un environnement pratique et
créatif avec des experts de la conception de solutions, du développement de
logiciels et des données ouvertes dans le but d’explorer des solutions
concrètes. Voici ce que nous demandons aux organismes communautaires comme
le vôtre qui aimeraient participer :



·         Nommer jusqu’à deux membres de votre équipe qui
participeront à l’Atelier
de remue-méninge communautaire sur l’itinérance. Les participants doivent
faire preuve de créativité, avoir de l’expertise en matière d’itinérance et
de logement et être en mesure de collaborer avec d’autres personnes. Avec
l’aide d’experts de l’expérience utilisateur, les participants auront pour
tâche de schématiser l’expérience des utilisateurs et de retenir un
problème ou un projet qui sera abordé lors du Hackathon.



·         Nommer au moins un de ces deux membres pour participer à
l’HCCI pendant
la fin de semaine du 18 au 20 novembre. Ce ou ces représentants de votre
organisme travailleront avec un groupe de participants afin d’élaborer une
solution. Ils apporteront leur expertise et collaboreront notamment avec le
secteur des technologies pour résoudre le problème.

Community Brainstorming session is for you or a member of your team! In
preparation for the Partnering to Hack Homelessness (P2H²) Hackathon event,
Employment and Social Development Canada’s Homelessness Partnering Strategy
(HPS), in collaboration with Datafest Ottawa, is inviting you to a
Community Brainstorming Workshop.  HPS is seeking organizations that serve
the homeless population and those at risk of homelessness to join us in
exploring how technology and other innovation can support the sector’s work.



*Know exactly what you would like to work on and eager to get started?* To

*BACKGROUND*

As a community organization, we are inviting you to identify your most
pressing challenges in your day to day work. The Hackathon is a hands-on,
creative opportunity to share your ideas and experiences with experts in
solution design, software development, and open data and to explore
practical solutions.  Here is an overview of what we are asking from
community organizations like yours in order to participate:



·         Identify up to two members of your team to attend the Community
Brainstorming Workshop. Participants should be creative, have expertise in
homelessness and housing issues, and be able to work collaboratively. With
the help of user experiences experts, participants will be tasked to
undertake user experience mapping and identify a problem, or project, to be
worked through at the Hackathon.



·         Identify at least one of these team members to attend the P2H2 on
the weekend of November 18-20, representing your organization and working
with a team of participants to develop a solution. Your representatives
will bring subject matter expertise and collaborate with the tech community
and others to work through the problem.
