Hello All,

Further information has been received in regards to the Portable Housing Benefit for Survivors of Domestic Violence. See below for some general information received.
More information will be communicated to agencies and community resources in the coming weeks.



*         All households who are accorded the Special Provincial Priority (SPP), on the centralized wait list, will be offered the housing benefit following the chronological order until all of the funding has been allocated.



*         Once a client is on the centralized wait list, the Social Housing Registry will assess households for Special Provincial Priority (SPP) status to ensure households meet the eligibility criteria.  If SPP status is accorded, the option of the housing benefit will be discussed with the client.



*         Clients in receipt of OW/ODSP will be advised that they are required to inform their OW/ODSP caseworker of the housing benefit.  It will also be part of the regular follow up with the clients, to inquire if they have done so.



*         Eligible applicants will receive a letter from the Ministry of Finance which will indicate their entitlement for the Housing Allowance.  As for the first/last month rent, if applicable, confirmation will be issued through the Rent Supplement Program.  Clients will be advise to provide this information to OW/ODSP.



*         Information has already been communicated to the agencies (I have attached a document with background information for your reference).  More information will also be sent to them shortly.



*         The pilot project is scheduled to start within the next 2 weeks. Applicants will be sent a package with the application form and information regarding the program.  They will also be contacted by a City staff person.



*         The turnaround time for processing applications is approximately 2-3 weeks.
