SYSTEMS MAPPING: A COORDINATED COMMUNITY APPROACH
[image: SystemsMap Hand.jpg]

*Keynote Speaker: Natalie Duchesne, PhD.*

The Alliance is leading Ottawa’s first Systems Mapping initiative in
collaboration with homelessness, supportive and social housing agencies and
community stakeholders, including the City’s Housing Services Branch.

The goal of this data driven initiative is to better understand the
programs, services and structures in place that can inform an
evidence-based approach to aligning future policy, program and funding
related targets and outcomes specific to Ottawa’s housing and homelessness
needs.

Join Alliance Research Coordinator *Natalie Duchesne *who will share the
results of Phase I of the Alliance’s Systems Mapping survey undertaken this
past spring by our members. Having surveyed over 100 local agencies, Ottawa
has collected the largest Systems Mapping data set of any participating
Canadian city to-date.
*WHY SYSTEMS MAPPING NOW? *

As new federal funding comes online, the value of Systems Mapping will be
in offering the tools to do the strategic planning necessary to determine
local needs around funding and resource allocations.

The mapping process also responds to increasing demands by funders for
outcome oriented systems-level coordination at the local level, and will
further allow for opportunities to rethink – collectively – how we partner
and evolve. *Be a part of the conversation!*

*Background: By-Law Amendments 2018*

At the 2017 Annual General Meeting of the Alliance, updates to the
organization’s General Operating By-Law No. 1 were proposed and approved.
These changes are reflected in the revised By-Law attached. The principal
changes were to replace “Steering Committee” with “Board”; broaden the
potential organizational membership; reduce the size of the Board, the
Executive Committee and the number of meetings; and change the fiscal year
end from December 31st to March 31st.

Since then, the Board has also reconsidered the categories of officers and
proposes to re-introduce the Vice-Chair position to the Board and the
Executive Committee. In addition, the responsibility (in Section 7.04) to
provide a semi-annual accounting of funds held in trust by the Corporation
has been moved from being a responsibility of the Secretary to being a
responsibility of the Treasurer (Section 7.05). These changes are also
reflected in the revised By-Law.
