Public call for applications NOW OPEN!

We are reaching out to you today as you may be interested to learn that the
public call for applications for the *National Housing Council* has
launched. The National Housing Council is a key component of the recently
passed National Housing Strategy Act (NHS Act), which is now law.
Individuals interested in submitting their application to be considered for
the Council can apply here

The public call for applications is open from *August 20 to October 14,
2019*.

The new Council will further housing policy and the National Housing
Strategy (NHS), by providing advice to the Minister responsible for the NHS
Act, including on the effectiveness of the NHS with the aim of improving
housing outcomes for all Canadians. The Council will support the
progressive realization of the right to adequate housing, as recognized in
the *International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights* and
will promote accountability, participation and inclusion in keeping with a
human rights-based approach to housing.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is managing this application
process. CMHC will provide administrative services and facilities to assist
the National Housing Council to perform its duties and functions.

Who can apply?

Any Canadian who is 18 years of age and older (as of January 1, 2019) can
apply for this unique opportunity. We are looking for diverse
representation: gender, official languages, regions, Indigenous groups,
persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S community, racialized communities and
people with lived expertise of housing need or homelessness. Individuals
will be selected for the Council based on their expertise and knowledge,
not as a representative of an organization.

The Council will have up to 15 diverse members, from different backgrounds,
including individuals with lived expertise of housing need or homelessness,
as well as those who have expertise in human rights. Appointed by the
Minister, Members will serve for a three-year term.

Nous communiquons avec vous aujourd’hui, car vous serez peut-être intéressé
d’apprendre que l’appel public de candidatures pour siéger au *Conseil
national du logement* a été lancé. Le Conseil national du logement est une
composante clé de la *Loi sur la stratégie nationale sur le logement (Loi
sur la SNL),* qui a récemment été adoptée. Les personnes intéressées à
devenir membres du Conseil peuvent poser leur candidature ici

examen.

L’appel public de candidatures est ouvert du *20 août au 14 octobre 2019*.

Le nouveau Conseil fera avancer la politique sur le logement et la
Stratégie nationale sur le logement en formulant des avis au ministre
responsable de la *Loi sur la SNL,* notamment sur l’efficacité de la SNL,
en vue d’améliorer les conditions de logement pour tous les Canadiens. Le
Conseil soutiendra la réalisation progressive du droit à un logement
convenable, qui est reconnu dans le *Pacte international relatif aux droits
économiques, sociaux et culturels,* ainsi que la responsabilisation, la
participation et l’inclusion, conformément à une approche du logement axée
sur les droits de la personne.

La Société canadienne d’hypothèques et de logement (SCHL) gère ce processus
de mise en candidature. La SCHL fournira les services administratifs et les
installations nécessaires au Conseil national du logement dont il a besoin
pour s’acquitter de sa mission.

Qui est admissible?

Tous les Canadiens âgés de 18 ans ou plus (au 1er janvier 2019) peuvent
postuler pour ce rôle unique. Nous visons la création d’un Conseil ayant
une représentation diversifiée : genres, langues officielles, régions,
groupes autochtones, personnes handicapées, communauté LGBTQ2S, communautés
racialisées et personnes ayant éprouvé des besoins en matière de logement
ou vécu l’itinérance. Les membres seront choisies au Conseil en fonction de
