Dear partners,
We are writing to you to seek support in identifying Community Support Workers and Harm Reduction Workers to support the operation of the McNabb Respite Centre.
The McNabb Arena Respite Center opened on April 24, 2020, to offer washroom and shower facilities as well as opportunities to share information regarding programs and supports available to the homeless and vulnerable population. McNabb is intended as a temporary solution in response to COVID-19. We are currently planning to expand the operations into July and August, with the intention to close out the facility on August 30. The hours of operations are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
The operation of the McNabb Respite Center is a collaboration between City Staff, Centertown Community Health Center (CCHC) and Somerset West Community Health Center (SWCHC). Staff from CHCs address client support, crisis management and harm reduction. Staff from Recreation, Cultural and Facilities Services support client reception and overall client experience as well as on-site supervision.
To effectively continue to support the operations of McNabb Respite Center, we are writing to seek additional partnerships in order to sustain the current staffing model. We are seeking partners who can provide Community Support Workers/Harm Reduction Workers to be part of the Operational Team that would be fully funded through the City of Ottawa and support the following:

  *   Crisis intervention for clients
  * Assist client navigate system and refer to other resources
  * Provide harm reduction gear to clients
  * Administer naloxone (Narcan) if required
If you are able to identify staff who could be part of this initiative, please contact Kimberley Steven at Kimberley.Steven at ottawa.ca<mailto:Kimberley.Steven at ottawa.ca> for more information.
Many thanks for your support.
