Cette année, les organismes peuvent demander un financement pour aider les
aînés à faire face à la pandémie en soumettant des propositions de projets
qui offrent des activités spécifiques de secours ou de rétablissement pour
les aînés en réponse à la COVID‑19. Des projets plus traditionnels du PNHA
peuvent également être soumis.
Le programme Nouveaux horizons pour les aînés appuie les projets qui
répondent à au moins un de ses 5 objectifs :
o promouvoir le bénévolat auprès des aînés et des autres générations;
o faire participer les aînés à la collectivité à titre de mentors auprès
d’autres personnes;
o accroître la sensibilisation aux mauvais traitements envers les aînés,
y compris à l’exploitation financière;
o appuyer la participation sociale et l’inclusion des aînés;
o fournir une aide à l’immobilisation pour des projets ou des programmes
communautaires nouveaux ou existants, destinés aux aînés.
Les organisations sont invitées à demander un financement pour des projets
qui soutiennent les priorités nationales du programme :
1. Appuyer le vieillissement en santé
o notamment en adressant l’isolement social, la santé mentale et la
démence, y compris le soutien à l’habitation intergénérationnel accessible.
2. Prévenir la maltraitance et la fraude envers les aînés
o notamment en présentant des mesures pour réduire les crimes et
préjudices envers les aînés et soutenir l'autonomie financière des aînés.
1. Lutter contre l’âgisme, célébrer la diversité et promouvoir
l’inclusion
o notamment en encourageant la participation des aînés sur le marché du
travail, particulièrement pour les membres de groupes sous-représentés ou
mal desservis, y compris, sans s’y limiter, les femmes, les autochtones,
les personnes en situation de handicap, les membres de groupes racialisés
et de nouveaux arrivants, et les membres des communautés LGBTQ2+ et
promouvoir le mentorat et l'engagement intergénérationnels.
1. Améliorer l’accès des aînés aux services et aux prestations du
gouvernement
o notamment en aidant les aînés à accéder à des prestations
gouvernementales et à fournir un soutien pour produire leurs déclarations
de revenus.
5. Adapter les organismes communautaires à un environnement devenu
plus virtuel
o notamment en élaborant et en offrant des programmes virtuels, et en
recrutant et en formant des bénévoles afin d’appuyer l’intégration sociale
des aînés.

Community-based projects are eligible to receive up to $25,000 in grant
funding. Small grants of up to $5,000 are available to organizations that
have not received funding from the program in the past five years.
To simplify the application process and provide funds more rapidly,
organizations can now complete and submit project proposals using an online

This year, organizations can apply for funding to support seniors dealing
with the pandemic by submitting project proposals that offer specific
COVID-19 relief or recovery activities for seniors. More traditional NHSP
projects can also be submitted.
The New Horizons for Seniors Program supports projects that address 1 or
more of the 5 program objectives:
o Promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations;
o Engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others;
o Expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse;
o Supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors; and
o Providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects
and/or programs for seniors.
Organizations are invited to apply for funding that supports the program’s
national priorities:
1. Supporting healthy ageing
o Including addressing social isolation, mental health and dementia, and
supporting accessible intergenerational housing
2. Preventing elder abuse and fraud
o Including measures to reduce crimes and harm against seniors and
supporting financial empowerment of seniors
3. Combatting ageism, celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion
o Including promoting labour market participation of seniors,
particularly members of underrepresented or underserved groups, including,
but not limited to, women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities,
members of racialized and newcomer groups, and members of LGBTQ2+
communities, and promoting intergenerational mentoring and engagement
4. Improving seniors’ access to government services and benefits
o Including helping seniors navigate access to government benefits, and
providing support to file their taxes
5. Adapting community-based organizations to a more virtual environment
o Including by developing and delivering virtual programming, and
recruiting and training volunteers to support the social inclusion of
seniors
