Dear Community Partners,



*We have **an update **to the** important notice that we shared with you
last week, on December 1st, for tenants in Ottawa.* This notice is
regarding a new practice at the Landlord and Tenant Board which may
seriously undermine tenants’ access to justice.



*We have attached an updated infographic, in English and in French, as well
as a text notice below, targeted to tenants.*



We ask that you share this information widely.

Attention Tenants! **UPDATE**



The Landlord and Tenant Board (the “Board”) has sent emails to many tenants
who have filed Tenant Applications informing them that their matters will
be scheduled in early 2022.



*Please note that these e-mails also inform tenants that in order to
continue with their Tenant Applications, they must reply to the e-mail they
have received and confirm that they want to pursue their matter.  **If a
tenant does not reply to Board by the deadline in the notification e-mail,
the Board may take steps to administratively close their application.* *It
is possible to re-open an application that has been administratively
closed.*



If you have filed a Tenant Application, please ensure that you are checking
your mail and e-mail regularly for notices and documents sent to you by the
Board. When checking your e-mail, make sure to check your “Spam” and “Junk”
folders.

Attention locataires! *** *MISE À JOUR** **



Tout récemment, la Commission de la location immobilière (la « Commission
») a envoyé des courriels à de nombreux locataires qui ont déposé de
requêtes les informant qu’une audience sera fixée au début de l’année 2022.



*Veuillez noter que ces courriels notent aussi qu’afin de poursuivre leurs
requêtes auprès de la Commission, les locataires doivent répondre au
courriel qu’ils ont reçu en confirmant qu’ils souhaitent aller de l’avant
avec une audience. La Commission peut administrativement mettre fin à la
requête d’un locataire si celui-ci ne répond pas à la Commission en bonne
et due forme avant la date limitée indiquée dans le courriel. **Veuillez
noter qu’il est possible de rouvrir une requête lorsque celle-ci a été
administrativement clôturée par la Commission.*



Si vous avez soumis une requête, assurez-vous de vérifier régulièrement
votre courrier et vos courriels afin de recevoir les avis et les documents
qui vous sont envoyés par la Commission. Il est aussi important que vous
vérifiez vos dossiers courriels « spam » ou « junk » afin de vous assurer
qu’un courriel n’a pas été mal placé.
