On *November 23, 2021*, the Government of Canada will launch the New
Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) 2021-2022 call for proposals (CFP) for
community-based projects across Canada.
*Please note that the online application and applicant guide will only be
available **on the Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) web site
starting on **November 23, 2021. It is important to note that you cannot
submit your application until on or after November 23, 2021, after the CFP

The deadline to submit applications will be *December 21, 2021, at 3:00
p.m. Eastern time. *Organizations will have a total of four (4) weeks to
submit their applications. The information on the NHSP web pages will help
you learn more about this funding opportunity, *as of November 23, 2021*.
The New Horizons for Seniors Program supports projects that address the
following objectives:
o Promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations;
o Engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others;
o Expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse;
o Supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors; and
o Providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects
and/or programs for seniors.
WHAT’S NEW FOR THE 2021-2022 CALL FOR PROPOSALS?
- One application stream: Community-based projects are eligible to
receive up to $25,000 in grant funding. New applicants and organizations
that have not been funded in the past five years are encouraged to apply.
- To simplify the application process and provide funds to communities
more rapidly, organizations will need to complete and submit their
application online.
- Organizations will be invited to apply for funding that supports the
program’s national priorities:
1. Supporting healthy ageing
o Including addressing social isolation, including through supporting
seniors’ digital literacy, addressing ageism, mental health and dementia,
and by developing and delivering virtual programming for the above.
2. Preventing senior abuse
o Including helping seniors navigate access to government benefits and
providing support to file their taxes, supporting financial empowerment of
seniors, and measures to reduce crimes and harm against seniors.
3. Celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion
o Including promoting intergenerational mentoring and engagement, and
serving members of the following vulnerable groups: Indigenous Peoples,
persons with disabilities, members of racialized and newcomer groups,
members of LGBTQ2+ communities, low-income seniors and veterans.
4. Helping seniors to age in place
o Including providing practical supports to seniors to help them remain
in their homes longer.

La date limite pour présenter une demande sera le *21 décembre 2021 à 15 h,
heure de l’Est*. Les organismes auront quatre (4) semaines afin de remplir
et présenter leur demande. Les renseignements sur les pages Web du PNHA
vous aiderons à en savoir plus sur cette possibilité de financement* à
partir du 23 novembre, 2021*.
Le programme Nouveaux horizons pour les aînés appuie les projets qui
répondent aux objectifs :
o promouvoir le bénévolat auprès des aînés et des autres générations;
o faire participer les aînés à la collectivité à titre de mentors auprès
d’autres personnes;
o accroître la sensibilisation aux mauvais traitements envers les aînés,
y compris à l’exploitation financière;
o appuyer la participation sociale et l’inclusion des aînés; et
o fournir une aide à l’immobilisation pour des projets ou des programmes
communautaires nouveaux ou existants, destinés aux aînés.
QUOI DE NEUF CONCERNANT L’APPEL DE PROPOSITIONS 2021-2022?
- Un seul volet de demande de subvention : Les projets communautaires
peuvent recevoir une subvention jusqu’à 25 000 $. Les nouveaux demandeurs
et les organismes qui n’ont pas reçu de financement au cours des derniers
cinq ans sont encouragés à présenter leurs demandes de subvention.
- Pour simplifier le processus de demande et attribuer des fonds plus
rapidement, les organismes doivent désormais remplir et présenter leurs
propositions en utilisant un formulaire en ligne.
- Les organisations seront invitées à demander un financement pour des
projets qui soutiennent les priorités nationales du programme :
1. Soutenir le vieillissement en bonne santé
o Notamment en luttant contre l’isolement social, y compris en soutenant
les personnes âgées et la littératie numérique; s’attaquer à l’âgisme; la
santé mentale et la démence; et en développant et en fournissant une
programmation virtuelle pour ce qui précède.
2. Prévenir la maltraitance des personnes âgées
o Notamment en aidant les aînés à accéder aux prestations
gouvernementales et fournir de l’aide pour produire leurs déclarations de
revenus; en soutenant l’autonomisation financière des aînés; et des mesures
visant à réduire les crimes et les préjudices causés aux aînés.
3. Célébrer la diversité et promouvoir l’inclusion
o Notamment en promouvant le mentorat et l’engagement
intergénérationnels ainsi que les membres actifs des groupes vulnérables
suivants : Autochtones, les personnes handicapées, les membres des groupes
racialisés et groupes de nouveaux arrivants, membres des communautés
LGBTQ2+, personnes à faible revenu chez les aînés et les anciens
combattants.
4. Aider les aînés à vieillir chez eux
o Notamment en fournissant un soutien pratique aux aînés pour les aider
à rester dans leur domicile plus longtemps.
