The* National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women,
Girls, and Two-Spirit People*, also known as *Red Dress Day*, honors those
whose lives have been lost, whose stories remain untold, or who have been
deeply affected by violence.



Observed annually on *May 5*, this day was inspired by the REDress Project
<https://www.jaimeblackartist.com/exhibitions/> by artist Jaime Black,
symbolizing the epidemic of violence against Indigenous women, girls, and
2SLGBTQIA+ people. The red dress represents the disproportionately high
rates of violence they face and serves as a call for justice, urging
systemic change to address the racism, sexism, and discrimination that
perpetuate these issues.

To continue learning and deepening our collective understanding, we invite
