Request for Proposals - Ethical Images Campaign Organizer

The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) is a unique
coalition of Atlantic Canadian organizations and individuals, with a shared
interest in international development and cooperation issues, working
together to achieve sustainable global development in a peaceful and healthy
environment, with social justice, human dignity, and participation for all.

ACIC supports its members in development and developmental education through
collective leadership, networking, information, training and coordination,
and represents their interests when dealing with government and others. We
currently have 54 members, including national organizations and grassroots
organizations as well as individuals from across the Atlantic Provinces.

ACIC seeks the services of responsible, energetic, and experienced
individual(s) to organize a public engagement campaign throughout the
Atlantic region. The project will focus on raising awareness on how images
of the developing world influence public perception.

Project Summary:
The South through the Northern Eye is a public engagement project that aims
to engage Atlantic Canadians on issues surrounding the use of images
portraying the developing world. This public engagement project, funded by
CIDA, will launch a campaign that not only increases awareness about global
poverty, but that also highlights the linkages that this issue presents
between the North and the South. It will present an opportunity for various
stakeholder groups to learn more about relationships between all citizens in
the world.

The project will provide information to specific target groups through a
series of workshops that will be developed by ACIC and provincial
coordinators. Following the workshops, a photography competition will be
hosted and the entries will be exhibited in galleries across Atlantic
Canada. In addition, public engagement events that show the different
images of poverty, and the messages that are portrayed through these images,
will be promoted across Atlantic Canada.
