PEI Energy Strategy Coordinator

Job Classification:  Full-time (35 hours/week)
              for 40 weeks (Sept/06 June/07) with the possibility of extension

Start date: September 5, 2006

Position Title: PEI Energy Strategy Coordinator for ACSEC and ECOPEI

Wage: $15.35/hour

Location: Charlottetown, PEI



ACSEC

Atlantic Canada Sustainable Energy Coalition (ACSEC) is an alliance of four
community-based, environmental organizations (including ECOPEI, see
www.ecopei.ca) that offer expertise in policy research and analysis,
project implementation, and public education.  The aim of ACSEC is to take
action on climate change by promoting a strategy for renewable energy and
improved energy efficiency that is rooted in community economic
development, and to create a regional system for sustainable energy
innovation. ACSEC believes that a successful sustainable energy strategy
will contribute to Atlantic Canadiansaspirations for appropriate,
sustainable development.



Responsibilities of PEI Energy Strategy Coordinator:

-    Conduct a multi-faceted province-wide campaign to develop and implement a
sustainable energy strategy for the promotion of energy efficiency and
continual adoption of renewable energy which enhances community economic
development;

-    Work with provincial counterparts and other partners throughout the region
to make Atlantic Canada a leader in sustainable energy development;

-    Organize and facilitate a provincial leadership team;

-    Network with individuals and organizations at the provincial and regional
level;

-    Prepare educational materials;

-    Conduct public outreach and community meetings, including media relations;

-    Research and prepare funding proposals and reports.

Qualifications:

-     Passion for protecting the environment and desire to work in an
environmental advocacy organization;

-     Previous work experience and volunteer work involving environmental
issues;

-    Knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency/conservation:

-    Knowledge of sustainable economic development issues;

-    Post secondary education in a related field of study, or equivalent
experience;

-   Ability to work in an unstructured environment and in collaborative
partnerships;

-   Excellent interpersonal and communication/computer skills, including public
speaking;

-   Strong analytical, planning and organizational abilities;

-   Drivers license and access to a vehicle.
