  Position Title: Project Coordinator
   
  Project Title: Mahone Bay Roseate Tern Recovery Project
   
  Responsibilities of Roseate Tern Project Coordinator:
   
  The Project Coordinator for the Mahone Bay Roseate Tern Recovery Project is responsible for the overall project delivery and reporting.  He or she will work in cooperation with the Canadian Wildlife Service when planning and implementing the field component of the project.  The Project Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director on all matters.
   
  Duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, project planning, management of summer project staff, oral and written reporting, development of education and outreach materials, and representing BCAF at public events, meetings, etc.
   
  Specific Duties:
  
  ·         Establish a field camp on Quaker Island
  ·         Deter gulls from nesting on the island
  ·         Placement of nesting shelters at recovery site
  ·         Placement of decoys and sound system at recovery site
  ·         Post appropriate signage
  ·         Conduct public consultations and distribute media releases
  ·         Develop and distribute project newsletters and brochures
  ·         Expansion of volunteer network of island monitors
  ·         Monitor population size, distribution, movement, and productivity
  ·         Expansion of Mahone Bay island owner contact program including: updating landowner database; contacting identified owners by post to provide them with stewardship options; providing general info on BCAF and project activities.
  ·         Survey and monitor other tern colonies within Mahone Bay
  ·         Develop and deliver school education program
  ·         Attend local festivals and events promoting and distributing project materials
  ·         Design, develop, and update website project material
  ·         Draft final project reports and distribute to all project partners
  ·         Deliver project presentations at various conferences, meetings, & workshops (e.g., ACTWoG, Recovery Team meetings, etc.)
   
  Other tasks may be assigned to the Project Coordinator from time to time by either the Executive Director or a member of the Board of Directors.
   
  Applicants must be energetic, motivated, and have a background in biology or environmental science.  Successful applicants should be able to work well with others as well as individually, comfortable in dealing with land owners and the general public, and have a love or appreciation for nature and working outside.  Strong writing skills, a strong attention to detail, experience in conducting field surveys, and experience in managing staff are desired assets to the position.
