EOS Eco-Energy/Eco-Énergie Inc. is joining with the Cape Jourimain Nature Centre and Mount Allison University to host another "Solar Shelters" workshop here in Sackville. Last year, we enticed more than 2 dozen people through a snowstorm to attend. This year, we hope that the weather will be more cooperative - and that at least an equal number of keen people will come!

Please consider attending - and please also share this information among your friends, colleagues and networks.

Solar Building Course - February 10-12th, Sackville, New Brunswick

"Solar Shelters" is a practical, how-to course on designing and building solar shelters, including greenhouses, solaria, additions and especially solar homes.

This course is intended for the general public and for those in design and construction. The main instructor is one of Canada's most experienced solar designer-builders, Don Roscoe, of Solar Nova Scotia.

Here's the outline:

(1) Solar Basics - of active and passive, an affordable approach
(2) Climate Control - for comfort and health, energy and the environment
(3) Site Designing - working with nature
(4) Shelter Designing - bringing you, your needs, and your site together

(5) Solar Construction - ground frost insulation, heat storage slabs, glazing types and systems and solar mechanicals
(6) Making It Happen - costing, controlling costs, contracting, doing it yourself, case studies, and other approaches

This course is offered as a one-weekend course in Sackville NB, at Mount Allison University (Avard Dixon Building, Room 112) on February 10, 11 and 12 (Friday 7:00pm to 9:30pm; Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday 9:00am to 4:00pm.).
