Attention Teachers and Youth Leaders:

Are you a teacher who:

•	works with students in grades 5 to 12?
•	teaches science, social studies, English or French?
•	is interested in learning about wetlands in a fun and exciting
format?
•	is looking for free, educational, curriculum-linked materials?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Quagmire may be just
the thing for you and your students!
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MAY 30th 2005

Quagmire: A Simulation Game for Wetland Decision Making is an interactive,
role-playing game in which students (grades 5 to 12) “debate the fate” of a
salt marsh.

The question is: should a local salt marsh be destroyed to build a highway,
or should it be protected?

Students take on different roles as they debate the issue in front of
council before a final vote. Quagmire was created by Clean Nova Scotia, a
non-profit environmental education group located in Dartmouth, N.S. It is
approved by Green Street, a standard of excellence in environmental
education.

To order Quagmire, register on the Green Street website
(www.green-street.ca). Quagmire est aussi disponible en français.
