ENERGY - Spot A Solar Project and Win
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Summer is here and the longer days of sunlight could help Nova Scotians
win solar energy prizes. The Nova Scotia Department of Energy, Solar
Nova Scotia, and the Ecology Action Centre have launched a
contest and campaign to get Nova Scotians to identify solar energy
projects across the province.

"Nova Scotians want to know more about renewable energy," said Energy
Minister Bill Dooks. "This project will help educate Nova Scotians about
successful solar and renewable energy technologies that work in our
province and help them make more informed decisions before investing in
the technology."

Contest entries can be made by reporting solar and renewable energy
installations anywhere in the province by clicking on the Solar Homes
Inventory Project (SHIP) logo at http://solarns.ca. The information will be
available on the Solar Nova Scotia website and will help home and
business owners understand the equipment and architecture used to
harness renewable energy. The website will feature case studies and
photographs demonstrating how solar energy and other alternative energy
sources work.

"Nova Scotia has one of the best climates in Canada for solar energy,"
said Andy O'Brien, Solar Homes Inventory Coordinator for the Ecology
Action Centre. "We often forget that the coldest days in winter are
usually the sunniest."

Contest winners will be determined from entries received between June
21 and Aug, 6. Winners will be announced on Sep. 23.
