TWO EVENTS:

*****************************
1.
Vigil for Victims of Bombings
Friday, September 8
NOON
Pier 22
1055 Marginal Road, Halifax
(off of Lower Water St., on the waterfront behind the Westin Hotel)

Join members of the Halifax Peace Coalition, Voice of Women for Peace, and
the Raging Grannies for a vigil to mourn the victims of bombings. Human
Rights Watch reports innocent civilians are disproportionately injured or
killed by aerial bombing campaigns. The vigil is taking place at the site of
the Canadian Defence Security and Aerospace Exhibition Atlantic where some
of the biggest weapons manufacturers in the world, such as Boeing, Raytheon,
and General Dynamics, will be exhibiting their war-fighting systems. We
condemn the arms trade that reaches $1 trillion annually and accounts for
tremendous death and destruction around the world. We protest the companies
that manufacture fighter jets, bombs, and cluster munitions that cause all
this suffering. We also condemn the appearance at Nova Scotia International
Air Show of the military aircraft, such as the U.S. Stealth Bomber and F-16
fighter jets, that possess nuclear and conventional bombs and cluster
munitions.

Organized by the Halifax Peace Coalition. Sponsored by the Voice of Women
for Peace. Special performance by the Raging Grannies. This vigil is in
response to the Nova Scotia International Air Show (War Show) that is taking
place on the weekend. For more information, please email us at

THE BOMBER'S DREAM
With Award-winning director Barry Stevens in Attendance

Friday, September 8
7:30-10:00 p.m.
Alumni Hall
University of King's College, Halifax
(located off Coburg Road on Lord Dalhousie Drive) Free public screening.
Donations appreciated. All welcome.

Award-winning Canadian filmmaker Barry Stevens weaves history and a
present-day detective story into a visually arresting and personal journey
into the heart of desire for ultimate military power. THE BOMBER'S DREAM is
a new, landmark, feature-length film that takes a hard look at the hidden
history of the most significant military innovation of the past century and
addresses the heated moral controversy of aerial bombing. Stevens interviews
people who do the bombing, and others who have been bombed, as well as
historians, ethicists, and a U.S. Air Force lawyer who decides whether a
target is legal. Among those taking part are Swedish historian Sven
Lindqvist; Noble Frankland, the official historian of Bomber Command; and
Michael Walzer, the world's leading ethicist on Just War theory.

Organized by the Halifax Peace Coalition. Sponsored by the Voice of Women
for Peace. Special performance by the Raging Grannies. This special
screening of The Bomber's Dream is in critical response to the Nova Scotia
International Air Show (War Show) that is taking place on the weekend. For
