Ecology Action Centre Solar Gain Project

The goal of the Ecology Action Centre Solar Gain Project 
is to promote and facilitate the installation of solar hot
water systems at commercial and institutional buildings in
Nova Scotia over a two-year period. Your role as Project
Officer will be to work with our Renewable Energy
Coordinator and potential clients to meet this goal.

Duration: From early May, 2007 - until November, 2008.

Salary: $15.00/hour at 20 hours/week.
The number of work hours available may increase, 
pending funding.

Location: This position is based at our office in Halifax,
Nova Scotia, Canada. Some portion of the work may be
completed outside the office, and some travel within 
Nova Scotia may be possible and/or necessary.

Specific Responsibilities
* contacting potential solar water heating clients,
including business owners, institutional managers and
associations to give information and set up meetings.
* working with the coordinator to follow up with clients,
including evaluations of solar potential, site visits and
meetings with potential clients
* responding to enquiries from the public about solar
energy and energy efficiency
* conducting tours of the solar heating system in our
office
* working with the coordinator to plan and implement 
a marketing campaign
* helping improve Solar Gain marketing materials, 
such as brochures and our website
* keeping records of progress on the project and reporting
to the coordinator
* participating in and supporting the overall work of 
the Ecology Action Centre

Qualifications/Skills Required

* training and/or experience in environmental science,
environmental studies, engineering, or marketing.
* familiarity and understanding of solar water heating
systems is an asset
* experience or training in community-based social
marketing would be a plus
* ability to create, follow and complete a work plan
* ability to work in a dynamic non-governmental
organization
* ability to travel within Nova Scotia by public transport
(e.g. buses and van shuttles) to visit clients may be
required. (A driver's license or automobile are not
required.)
