Bookkeeper Wanted!

The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation is a unique coalition
of Atlantic Canadian organizations working on international development
and cooperation issues, working together to achieve sustainable global
development in a peaceful and healthy environment, with social justice,
human dignity, and participation for all.

ACIC supports its members in development and developmental education
through collective leadership, networking, information, training and
coordination, and represents their interests when dealing with
government and others. We currently have over 60 members, including
national organizations and grassroots organizations from across the

The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) is looking for
a responsible, experienced person for the contract position of
Bookkeeper. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper will be
responsible for the timely and accurate processing of accounting
activities including A/P, G/L, production of financial reports and
processing of payroll using QuickBooks. The Bookkeeper can work at ACIC
during regular office hours, approximately 8 hours per week or as a
fee-for-service consultant. The Bookkeeper is responsible for:

A/P: 
Prepare cheques 
Ensure invoices and expense reports are supported by necessary
documentation

A/R: 
Prepare and send invoices

G/L: 
Reconcile bank account
Record cash receipts
Prepare month end transactions and post to G/L
Reconcile G/L accounts 

Financial Reports: 
Prepare monthly financial statements 
Assist in preparation for year end audit 
Prepare interim and final financial reports for funders

Payroll: 
Prepare bi-weekly payroll 
Ensure accuracy of payroll related filings, (T4's, source deduction
remittances) 
Prepare ROE's as required 

Desired Experience, Skills and Qualifications: 
• A minimum of 3 years recent and related experience 
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work as a team player 
• Detail-oriented, with ability to organize work, set priorities and
meet deadlines 
• Experience working with not-for-profits required, experience working
with CIDA-funded organisations an asset 
• 
Location: Halifax, NS

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience. Please include salary
expectations in your cover letter. 

Contract Period: 1 year (with 3 months probationary period).
Approximately 8 hours per week.
