[Sust-mar] Solar Shelter Course and Solar Home Construction Workshop

[EOS ECO-ENERGY]

Solar Shelter Course will be held on February 16th-18th 2007 in the Avart Dixon Building Room 118 at Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB. The main instructor is Don Roscoe from Solar Nova Scotia, one of Canada's most experienced solar designer-builder. The course fee is 90$ per person or 150$ per couple.

 

Course Outline:

1. Solar Basics - of active and passive, an affordable approach

2. Climate Control - for comfort and health, energy and the environment

3. Site Designing - working with nature

4. Shelter Designing - bringing you, your needs, and your site together

5. Solar Construction - ground frost insulation, heat storage slabs, glazing types and systems and solar mechanicals.

 

-Solar Home Construction- Builder's Workshop will be held on Saturday March 10th 2007 in the Avart Dixon Building Room 118 at Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB. The main instructor is Don Roscoe from Solar Nova Scotia, one of Canada's most experienced solar designer-builder. The course fee is 40$ per person. 

 

Course Outline: 

1. Ground insulation for frost protection

2. Heat storage slabs

3. Air re-circulation systems

4. Making your own fixed windows

5. Doing sloped glazing

6. Costing the materials and labour
