[Sust-mar] green workshops on new brunswick

There are three community, energy-efficiency workshops coming up in the Tantramar region of New Brunswick, sponsored by the community organization, EOS Eco-Energy/Eco-Energie Inc.  All are welcome.



February 2,3, 2007

"Going GREEN in your Home, Community and Business" Conference and Trade Show

Memramcook Resort (Memramcook Institute), NB

Friday Feb 2 - admission free; open displays from 3pm to 9pm; exhibitors include Independent Power Systems Inc., Fundy Solar, EnerGreen Builders Cooperative, Energeia Inc., RenewCoop, Kwesawek Energy, NBCC Moncton, Cape Jourimain and EOS Eco-Energy Inc.

Saturday Feb 3 - $15 fee for a full day of workshops, in French and English, for homeowners and businesses, ending in road trips to visit buildings that showcase energy efficiencies. For more information, see www.eos-eco.net



Feb 16 - 18, 2007

Solar Shelter Course

Mount Allison University, Avard Dixon Building Room 118, Sackville NB

$90 per person/ $150 per couple

Learn from Don Roscoe, of Solar Nova Scotia.

Course Outline:

1. Solar Basics - of active and passive, an affordable approach

2. Climate Control - for comfort and health, energy and the environment

3. Site Designing - working with nature

4. Shelter Designing - bringing you, your needs, and your site together

5. Solar Construction - ground frost insulation, heat storage slabs, glazing types and systems and solar mechanicals.

6. Visit a solar home, showcasing this design and materials

4. Making your own fixed windows

5. Doing sloped glazing
