Cape Jouriman EcoArts Festival
September 29 & 30
Bayfield, NB

Cape Jourimain Nature Centre's EcoArts Festival is an annual event that encourages both artists and the general public to look at and respond to nature with creativity and environmental sensitivity. The 2007 festival, scheduled for September 29 and 30, will involve over a dozen artists. The artists are a diverse group but with the common thread of exploring nature and environmental issues through their art. A list of participating artists can be found on the Nature Centre's website (www.capejourimain.ca).

The festival features exhibits, installations, demonstrations of artistic techniques, hands-on workshops, music and theatre. Viewing of the works and activities will run from 9 to 5, Saturday and Sunday. The Nature Centre's popular Iceboat Landing Restaurant will be open during the festival from 11 to 4.

As a lead up to the festival, an informal discussion panel and forum is being held to provide an opportunity for members of the arts community, environmentalists, and academics to discuss the potential and pitfalls of creating works of art in nature, and in particular in protected natural areas such as parks and wildlife reserves. The forum will take place on Tuesday, September 25th, 7 pm at the Struts Gallery in Sackville.

All activities associated with the festival are free with admission to the centre. Additional festival details will be available on the Nature Centre's website (www.capejourimain.ca).

The EcoArts Festival is supported through financial contributions from the Canada Council for the Arts and the NB Community Partnership Program for Cultural Activities.
