Title: Outreach Coordinator

Terms of Employment: Temporary, Full Time

Salary: $8.10/hour, for 35 hours per week for 12 weeks

Anticipated Start Date: May 26, 2008

Anticipated End Date: August 8, 2008

Education: Must be a student, either high school, university / college

Experience: Experience working with NGO's and volunteers an asset.

Interest in environmental issues, public engagement, and natural

history an asset.

Languages: Must speak, read and write English; French an asset

Work Setting: Non-governmental organization

Generic Skills: Computer use, writing skills, public

speaking skills

Job Description: The outreach coordinator will help run our

summer programs, and encourage volunteer engagement. Summer

programs include nature outings, our annual general

gathering, and a youth gathering. The coordinator will be

asked to assist local Sierra Club groups in key conservation

programs, and to develop outreach materials, as required.

We are looking for an outgoing and creative person!

guide and inspire collaborative, science-based,

landscape-scale, transboundary conservation efforts in the

Northern Appalachian/Acadian Ecoregion, situated in Atlantic

Canada, Québec, and the Northeastern United States. Ideal

candidates will love working with people who have diverse

interests and backgrounds, and will have had success in

bringing people together around a shared conservation

vision. Experience in the conservation field, and excellent

communication, management, and fundraising skills are

required. Fluent English and French language skills are

highly desirable. Office location within the region is

negotiable, though a convenient, central location in the

region is desired.
