Celebrate World Ocean Day with the Ecology Action Centre

Celebrate World Ocean Day with a full week of fun and enlightening
marine-themed events, June 6th-12th. The Ecology Action Center (EAC) is
partnering with local businesses, conservation organizations, universities,
and libraries to bring you a diverse mix of activities from under the sea.

Ocean Week highlights include:
•       Stitchin' Fish: Crafting Seafloor Biodiversity on the Scotian Shelf

Come visit a hand-crafted ocean floor display at the Loop Craft Café (1546
Barrington Street) - and bring along your own homemade sea animal additions!

•       Ocean Week sustainable seafood specials at restaurants across
Halifax. For a list of participating restaurants, please visit the Ocean
Week website.

•       World Ocean Day on the Halifax Waterfront
June 6th: 10 AM – 3 PM  (1675 lower Water Street)
The EAC and dozens of other ocean-related organizations will be plunging
into Oceans Week with displays and activities for the whole family.

•       The Fourth Annual Elisabeth Mann Borgese Ocean Lecture
June 6th: 7PM (Rm 105, Weldon Law Bldg, 6061 University Avenue)
Marine Conservation Biology Institute president Dr. Elliot Norse will
deliver this year's address, entitled "Oceans of Hope: Encouraging Signs in
Marine Conservation"

•       Sharkwater Matinee
June 7: 1 PM (Oxford Theatre, 6408 Quinpool Road)
Come out for a matinee showing of this award-winning film on the big screen.


•       Bottomfeeder- How to Eat Ethically in a World of Vanishing Seafood
June 11: 7 PM Bedford Public Library, 15 Dartmouth Road, Bedford
June 12: 7:30 PM Scotiabank Theatre, St. Mary's University, Halifax
The Bedford Public Library, Ecology Action Centre and St. Mary's University
present a reading by Taras Gresco from his important and provoking new book.
