About Windhorse Farm

Windhorse Farm is situated on a peaceful lake in southwestern

Nova Scotia. This heritage farm has been managed sustainably

for 170 years and is a diversified celebration of rural life ---

ecoforestry, wood shop, permaculture gardens, native plant

nursery and seed business, food processing, animal husbandry,

and educational programs.

We are a family farm with neighbour and resident employees

and many friends and visitors --- 250 acres of ancient Acadian

forest welcoming people who share our enthusiasm for personal

growth and rural community development in a meditative

learning environment.

Applicants for this position must have knowledge and experience in:

1. Growing and harvesting herbs, flowers, fruits.

2. Composting, pruning and greenhouse culture, annual

flowers for pots/planters and gardens

3. Perennial garden planning, propagation and maintenance

4. Organic soil development, pest/weed control, nutrient and

water management.

5. Food processing (canning, drying, freezing, root cellaring).

8. Offering friendly and informative tours to farm visitors.

The successful applicant will have a cheerful and adaptive

personality, be a non-smoker without accompanying dog

or cat. Needless to say we expect this employee to be

hardworking, punctual, honest and tidy.

40 hours per week @ $10 per hour + a garden share

(weekly box) of fruits, herbs and vegetables.

We are about 10 min drive from Bridgewater and 1.25 hours

from Halifax, so a car or bike might come in handy. We

meditate together in the afternoon and occasionally have

potluck dinners. We have classes in meditation once a week.

Please refer to our website for more information on

buildings, meditation and farm philosophy.
