The draft schedule for Geomatics Training Sessions for NGOs in Atlantic
Canada is available.
Through a collaborative initiative of COINAtlantic/ACZISC, the Southern Gulf
of St. Lawrence Coalition on Sustainability, CoastalCURA, the Atlantic
Ecosystem Partnership and the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) , a
series of one-day workshops will be held across the Atlantic Provinces in
early March 2009.
The primary audience for this training are members of NGO groups and
community organizations who would like to become familiar with the use of
geomatics for coastal and ocean planning, management and research. Others
will be considered based on the availability of space. All participants must
preregister with the Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence Coalition on
Sustainability by e-mail at: admin at coalition-sgsl.ca or by phone at:
1.506.858.4495.
Participants are expected to be familiar with the internet and general use
of either MS Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.
These hands-on workshops will aim to provide a general introduction to
geomatics and introduce some useful tools including GoogleEarth and the
COINAtlantic search Utility. Participants will benefit from a better
understanding of the general application of geomatics, including the access
