The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation has the following
internship position available. This position has been funded by the
Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan and is open youth aged 15-30 who
meet the following eligibility criteria:

*         Unemployed

*         A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person to whom refugee
protection has been granted under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

*         Legally entitled to work in Canada

*         Legally entitled to work in your province or territory

*         Willing to complete a police records check

*         highest level of qualification to date should be a high school
diploma (can not have yet graduated from a post-secondary institution)

Internship Title: Environmental Education Intern

Hours per Week: 37.5

Hourly Rate: $12.00

Length of Position: 6 months (May-November)

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday

Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for:

- Identifying opportunities for greening the office environment; - Assisting
in conference planning and development, especially in regards to
environmental concerns; - Networking among environmental and other civil
society organizations; - Designing and facilitating workshops on good
environmental practices; - Event planning - logistics, content and publicity


Special Requirements: A driver's license is an asset, but not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: - some educational
background in environmental studies and/or international development or
related fields (but has not yet graduated from a post-secondary institution)
-Good working knowledge of environmental issues/policies; -Solid oral and
written communication skills in English with basic French an asset;
-Excellent planning and organizational skills; -Facilitation skills;
-Ability to demonstrate a high-degree of motivation, and persistence and to
work independently and in team settings; -Strong analytical skills; - IT
skills (web design, databases, new media) an asset.
The intern will gain experience, knowledge and skills in: -Working with a
membership-based network; -Effective written & verbal communication:
communicating with different audiences, writing skills etc; -Event planning;
- designing workshops, developing learning objectives etc.; -Facilitation
and presentation skills; -Networking skills - ability to work with different
stakeholders; and -Organizational skills - time management, project
management, effective organizational skills.
