Falls Brook Centre has an opening for a highly motivated, self-directed person to work as the Program Manager at Falls Brook Centre.

This position will require a dynamic individual who can work with and facilitate the engagement of young professionals and international organizations at many levels. A person also comfortable with preparing and delivering professional trainings for university graduates on topics such as conflict resolution, micro credit systems, local organic food security, biodiversity restoration or community asset mapping.



This person has a significant amount of work experience, and is comfortable with a range of educational methodologies. Land-based skills in bee keeping, carpentry, artwork and homesteading would be an asset. Ability to communicate in Spanish would also be an important asset.



>From broad direction on a project, he/she can discern priorities, establish tasks to be done, carry them out with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines. He/she is a good organizer and communicator (bilingualism would be an asset- French and English), is comfortable with public speaking, and above all, wants to work as part of a dedicated team of staff at Falls Brook Centre. The Program Manager is someone who has a vibrant personality and is able to energize the people involved in our internship program and international cooperation projects while at the same time being personally involved in promoting ecological integrity, cultural and social vibrancy and viable economic livelihoods in the context of rural New Brunswick. An entrepreneurial nature and ability to think out of the box would also be important.

We are looking for someone with a range of work experience, not recent graduates.



Falls Brook Centre is a site-based organization with a long-term vision of re-creating a village like lifestyle in this part of rural Carleton County, New Brunswick. Currently we are an education and training centre working with outreach and community development programs that have an environmental focus.



We are interested in hiring someone who is able to make a longer term commitment, someone who has come to a point in their life where working and living in a rural area and building up the Centre and the land is an idea that resonates with their own life interests.



Qualifications

- Several years of work in related areas

- A preferred background in environmental or land sciences would be considered an asset.

- Interest in and experience working with young adults and university graduates

- Experience leading workshops in a classroom setting and on field trips

- Ability to develop and deliver creative learning programs

- Any land based skills: carpentry, building, rural skills an asset

- Demonstrates teamwork, creativity, flexibility and leadership

- Strong program management skills (administration, coordination, networking, reporting and securing future funding)

- Spanish and French an asset



Reports to Executive Director



Salary: $32,000/yr 51 weeks



Estimated start date: October 2010.
