Position: YLSF International Internships - 11 positions in Africa and Latin America

Organization: International Institute for Sustainable Development 

Locations: Peru, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Panama, Malawi, Ghana, Kenya, Brazil, Guyana



Call for applications - YCLSF International Internship Program 2010-2011



The International Institute for Sustainable Development is currently recruiting for the Young Leaders for a Sustainable Future (YLSF) international internship program.



The YLSF program offers the opportunity for young professionals to participate in overseas internship opportunities in the Global South, with positions in Africa and Latin America. Interns are hosted by reputable international organizations such as the United Nations Environment Program and IUCN, amongst many others.



Application deadline: September 17th, 2010

Interviews: Selected participants to be interviewed at the end of September 2010

Start Date: Mid-October 2010

End Date: End-April 2011

In order to be considered for a position, candidates are required to fill out an online application form and submit the following documents: transcripts, resume, cover letter, a copy of a research paper and two reference letters. IISD is committed to equal opportunity.



To be eligible for the YCLSF program candidates must meet the following criteria:



* be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;

* be between 19 and 30 years of age;

* be a graduate of a college or university program;

* be unemployed or underemployed;

* have never participated in an internship program funded under the Canadian Government's Youth Employment Strategy (YES) program

* have had no previous paid career related international work experience;

* have knowledge and understanding of international development issues and

practices, as pertaining to the position being applied for; and

* be available for a minimum of 6 months starting from mid-October (2010) through to the end of April (2011).



All selected interns will receive a stipend to cover basic living expenses.
