Getting out what we put in!                 

 

Hello everyone!

This year the Nova Scotia Environmental Network (NSEN) will be co-hosting
the Annual Gathering with the Atlantic Chapter of the Sierra Club of Canada
and Pictou County Watershed Coalition (PCWC).

The theme for this year's gathering is "Water, Woods, Work. Getting out what
we put in!" 

We'll be gathering in Scotsburn, Pictou County, Nova Scotia at the beautiful
Stonehame Lodge, on Friday, September 10 to Sunday, September 12, to learn
about environmental issues, rejuvenate ourselves and prepare for another
year of organizing around environmental issues in Nova Scotia! 

Some highlights on the agenda include:

 

.         Toxic Tour of Boat Harbour and area- Ron Kelly with Pictou County
Watershed Coalition and Peter Boyle will lead the tour

.         Keynote address from Dr. Daniel Paul author of "We Are Not the
Savages". Dr. Paul will speak extensively on the history and struggle of
Boat Harbour and Pictou Landing First Nations

.         Panel on Sustainable Forestry  with Billy MacDonald of Friends of
Red Tail, Gary Schneider of ECOPEI MacPhail Woods and Matt Miller of EAC

.         Workshops on fundraising and youth action & engagement 

.         NSEN Caucus meetings- Cathy Conrad with Saint Mary's University
Community Based Environmental Monitoring Network will talk about Citizen
Science and her experiences in The Gambia

.         James Desmond from the community of Lincolnville will discuss
history and current concerns

.         Film Screening: Living Downstream
