Position: Events and Youth Outreach Coordinator

Organization: New Brunswick Environmental Network http://www.nben.ca

Location: Moncton, New Brunswick with occasional travel

Wage: $13.00-14.00 an hour

Location: Moncton with occasional travel

Nature of job: Fulltime, Permanent, Monday to Friday, 9:00

am to 5:00 pm, with occasional weekend and evening work



The New Brunswick Environmental Network is hiring an Events

and Youth Outreach Coordinator. This position requires

someone who can develop, inspire, and support an inclusive

and enthusiastic community of New Brunswick youth

environmental leaders who are working towards a sustainable

future. This position will empower youth with the resources

and support needed to develop critical thinking skills, a

unique way of applying these skills to the environmental

issues of concern to them and links to expand their work to

their broader community. The position will demand effective

planning and coordination for events aimed at both youth

environmental groups and community based groups.



Interested candidates should be prepared to:

* Plan and organize events and gatherings

* Build and sustain active youth environmental leadership in

New Brunswick, including school presentations and outreach;

* Establish mentorship opportunities connecting youth

interested in environmental issues to their wider community;

* Provide follow-up, support, and resources for school and

community youth groups over the long term; and

* Work in collaboration with partners, NBEN member and

associate groups and other members of the NBEN staff team,

in the spirit of mutual cooperation

* Achieve the vision of an empowered youth environmental

movement in New Brunswick



Requirements:

- Strong oral communications skills in English and French,

and good written skills in at least one of theselanguages

- Strong organizational and project management skills

- Ability to facilitate meetings of diverse participants

- Networking and partnership skills



Assets:

- Experience in project coordination and event organization

- Background in the environmental movement and knowledge of

key environmental issues of concern to youth

- Experience with youth groups and organizations

- Ability to work independently but also a co-operative team player

- Driver's license



The New Brunswick environmental network is a non-profit

communication network linking over 90 environmental groups

across the province. The network is the heartbeat of the

environmental movement, with a mission "to encourage and

facilitate networking and communication among member groups

in order to advance their work, to protect the Earth, to

promote ecologically sound ways of life and to strengthen

the environmental movement in New Brunswick."
