SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY



Position: Technical Writer -- Climate Change Assessment Project

Organization: Atlantic Cooperative Study Unit http://www.atlanticcsu.ca

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada



The Atlantic Cooperative Study Unit is seeking a candidate

to perform an assessment of the potential impacts of climate

change on Parks Canada's National Historic Sites and other

significant resources. This position can be based out of

Kejimkujik National Park (preferred), Acadia University or

consideration of home-based work.



Job Description:

The Atlantic Cooperative Study Unit (ACSU) is seeking an

individual to:

- Collect information from staff at Canada's National

Historic Sites.

- Assess threat criteria for the potential climate change

impacts on these sites.

- Contribute to the writing of the technical report.

- Draft general layout and presentation of the report (final

layout will be done by others).



The following skills and experience are required:

- Demonstrated writing ability.

- Interest in historical and cultural research and/or perspectives.

- Attention to detail.

- Cordial in conversation and ability to explain project

philosophy well.



The following skills would be considered an asset:

- Knowledge of climate change.

- Knowledge of Parks Canada's National Historic Sites.



Restrictions: Due to funding sources of project, candidate

must be a youth (under 30 years of age), a current and

returning, full-time student and legally entitled to work 

in Canada.



Salary range: $12 - 14/hr, 35hr/week, for a work period

of 10 - 14 weeks.



Start date: May 25, 2010 (flexible).
