SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY



Position: Water Coordinator II

Organization: Sierra Club Canada - Atlantic Chapter http://www.sierraclub.ca

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia



Last summer, the Sierra Club Atlantic developed workshop

tools such as a presentation on water quality monitoring,

outreach materials, and participant's workbook and piloted a

highly successful water quality monitoring workshop in

Musquidoboit Harbour, NS.



This position will entail working with the more junior Water Coordinator 

(ad listed here: http://goodworkcanada.ca/greenjobs.php?id=11128) 

to build on this project, and encourage participation in Sierra 

Club's national water conservation campaign, ActionH2O. 

The student will work with community groups and volunteers 

through participation in the Nova Scotia Environmental Network's 

Water Caucus. The student will be asked to coordinate at least 

one face-to-face meeting of key volunteers and ensure structures 

are created to sustain the program.



Pay Rate and Term: 14 weeks @ $12.00/hr, full-time.



Qualifications

* Ability to read and write English fluently.

* Ability to read and write French an asset.

* Must be completing post-secondary education in fields of

environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental 

studies or ecology.

* Previous event organization experience and volunteer coordination required.

* Must have an understanding of MS Office programs and 

experience with Microsoft Powerpoint.

* Familiarity with website maintenance and social marketing 

(Facebook, Twitter) an asset.
