Full Circle Community Network

Strategic Planner Contract Position

The Full Circle Community Network is an emerging network of organizations and individuals in the North Shore of Nova Scotia, committed to the inclusion of all people in meaningful relationships, activities and work together. Within a broader vision of diverse projects and relationships, this network carried out an initial pilot Horticultural Therapy project during the summer of 2010. This project brought together dedicated volunteers, supportive organizations, skilled professionals and participants from all parts of our communities (seniors, individuals with disabilities, mental health consumers, etc) to derive healthy benefits from shared connections with the earth and with growing plants.

The Full Circle Community Network would like to do some strategic planning, to carry forward this exciting vision, via the following:

· Build upon learnings and experiences of the summer Horticultural Therapy project

· Clarify ongoing regional needs/foci and partners for inclusion programs

· Develop a 2-year strategic plan that

o grows the Network

o plans for upcoming, relevant projects

o results in a Business Plan that clarifies a sustainable organizational structure and fundraising strategy for the Network

To that end, we are seeking to hire a strategic planner.

It is anticipated that this work will involve some regional research and engagement with individuals and organizations; consultation with those involved in the 2010 Horticultural Therapy project; approximately 6 monthly meetings with core Network partners as well as meeting with new partners; and, synthesis of all work, resulting in a useable Business Plan including a proposed organizational structure and fundraising strategy.

Remuneration: The Full Circle Community Network has $4,000 to cover all expenses for this work (honorarium, travel, computer/printing, telephone, etc). Expenses such as meeting space, work space and refreshments for meetings will be offered in-kind by Network partners in the community of Tatamagouche. The contract begins October 15, 2010 and ends April 15, 2011.

The successful applicant will work supportively with and report to the Full Circle Community Network Steering Committee, and will have experience with community development, community-based or participatory research, and business plan development. Knowledge of the charitable organization sector would be an asset. Please provide a 2-page application explaining your interest in this work, a resume, and 3 references.

Please send application, by September 30, 2010, to:
