Position: EAC Membership Canvass Coordinator (P/T)

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia



ORGANIZATION The Ecology Action Centre, established in 1971, is Nova Scotia's largest and most active environmental organization. We work on sustainable transportation, marine and coastal issues, wilderness issues, urban issues, sustainable food production and alternative energy.



Membership is an essential component of the Centre. Our members direct our work, support us and give us a mandate. EAC currently has approximately 1200 members. With this eight week membership canvass we aim to increase our mandate and encourage more of our supporters to join.



RESPONSIBILITIES

• Report to and work with the Membership team

• Recruit, hire and manage a staff of 6-10 canvassers and provide regular reports

• Assist with training canvassers

• Prepare schedules, assign turf, check ins

• Periodically canvass along with rest of canvass team

• Participate in and support the overall work of the Ecology Action Centre



QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED

• Canvassing experience essential

• Experience training, managing and supervising staff

• Detail oriented and comfortable with administrative processes

• Persistent, optimistic and with a sense of humour

• Available some evenings and weekends and willing to travel within HRM

• Experience working in nonprofit, volunteer-driven organizations

• Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a vehicle an asset

• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, internet and email

• Knowledge of environmental issues an asset



TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Around 20 hours per week @ $16.00/hr for approximately 10 weeks
