Position: Youth & Network Communications Coordinator

Location: Moncton, New Brunswick
Are you interested in learning, connecting, and engaging with groups working on the varied environmental issues in the province? Do you like working with people, organizing meetings, and have experience in teamwork?
The NBEN (http://www.nben.ca) is a dynamic and innovative organization that functions as New Brunswick's environmental movement's "central station" -- and we are currently looking for a motivated and well-organized individual interested in environmental issues in New Brunswick to fill the position of Youth & Network Communications Coordinator.
The ideal candidate will be independent yet experienced in teamwork and will be able to work in a multi-faceted environment where the digital interface is an integral part of the work. This position requires someone who can develop, inspire, and support an inclusive and enthusiastic community of New Brunswick youth environmental leaders who are working towards a sustainable future. The position will demand effective planning and coordination for events aimed at youth environmental groups.
Interested candidates should be prepared to:
Plan and organize 5 youth gatherings in 5 areas, in collaboration with local youth host committees;
Build and sustain active youth environmental leadership in New Brunswick, including school presentations and outreach;
Provide follow-up, support, and resources for school and community youth groups;
Coordinate caucuses of community groups working on environmental issues.
Requirements:
Strong oral and written communications skills in English and French
Strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to facilitate meetings of diverse participants
Networking and partnership skills
Excellent computer skills (including websites, facebook)
Ability to work independently but also a co-operative team player
Driver's license
Assets:
Experience in event planning
Background in the environmental movement and knowledge of key environmental issues of concern to youth
Experience with youth groups and organizations
Background in the non-profit sector
Quick learner and a highly motivated self-starter
Creative and resourceful
Interest in or passion for environmental issues
The position will be filled until March 31, 2013, with a possibility of becoming permanent full-time.
Location: Moncton with occasional travel
Salary: 14$ to 18$/hr, depending on qualifications
Starting date: immediately
