Nature Nova Scotia AGM and "Becoming a Naturalist" Youth Program

Nature Nova Scotia's weekend long naturalists program will take place over the May 25-27th 2012 weekend at the Tatamagouche Centre in Tatamagouche Nova Scotia. This is a
once-a-year social, learning and experience event for naturalists. There will
be wine and cheese and banquet nights interspersed with field trips and hikes
to local natural areas; layered with information given in illustrated talks by experts.

This year there will be concurrent youth programming (geared to youth 8-12 but any age welcome) with the theme: “Becoming
a Naturalist”. Youth will explore the basic skills of a
naturalist. Identifying
species, observing wildlife and nature and recording it will be key
activities
in the program. Youth will have a chance to create and use nature
journals and
learn how to use the tools of the trade including field guides, keys,
binoculars and more. We have a nice variety of workshops being offered
on natural history, birding, identifying trees, observing signs of
wildlife and some great family field trips to the Northumberland Shore
and Sugar Moon Farm.

There are ten youthsponsorshipsavailable to cover meals and accommodations (for youth 8-12). We are grateful for TD Friends of The Environment Fund for sponsoring the youth program. For information about youth programming and sponsorships contact Robin at yncns at yahoo.ca.
