FULL-TIME (Maternity Leave) JOB POSTING
Community Advisor: Child/Youth Active Transportation (Cape Breton)
Ecology Action Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Part of EAC's Transportation Issues Committee work involves encouraging
active forms of transportation, such as walking and cycling, among
children and youth. The Cape Breton Community Advisor will coordinate
two programs in Cape Breton and Eastern Nova Scotia: School Travel
Planning and Making Tracks. School Travel Planning involves working with
stakeholders to recruit and support schools in developing and
implementing active transportation plans. Making Tracks offers safety
skills training across the province in the areas of walking, cycling,
in-line skating and skateboarding. The Community Advisor must manage
complex relationships, understand local and community needs and traffic
issues, be aware of transportation and related regulations and
legislation and have the ability to tap into local resources and build
networks as needed. The deadline for applications is June 17, 2012.
