Job Posting: Trashformers & Education Coordinator

 

ACAP Cape Breton is a non-profit charitable organization established in
1992. ACAP Cape Breton has grown into a dynamic group that integrates
environmental, social and economic factors into projects focusing on action,
education and ecosystem planning. The Trashformers are a team of students
employed during July & August to beautify our communities by picking up
litter in public places in the CBRM.  ACAP Cape Breton is currently seeking
an Education Coordinator to lead the Trashformers program and facilitate
environmental education efforts. 

 

Deadline for Applications: May 25th by 12 noon

 

Employment term:  June 4, 2012 to August 31, 2012 with potential for
extension pending funding.

 

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 and willing to work evenings and
weekends as required.

Location: 582 George Street, Sydney, NS

 

Requirements/Qualifications: 

.         University degree in environmental science, environmental studies,
education biology or a related program

.         Knowledge of local solid waste and environmental issues

.         Comfortable public speaking and an organized, independent work
ethic

.         Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

.         Access to a vehicle & clean driving record (Must at least 21 years
of age to drive a rental vehicle)

 

Core Responsibilities:

.         Organizing and implementing all aspects of the Trashformers
program.

.         Developing schedules 

.         Hiring and supervising staff (students)

.         Organizing cleanups with partnering organizations

.         Report writing & documenting activities

.         Adhering to a budget

 

Other: 

.         Develop and deliver presentations.

.         Develop educational displays and attend community events.

.         Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries
