October is International Walk to School Month

 

October is International Walk to School Month (and Walk at School
Month). Register online at www.saferoutesns.ca (click IWALK). There are
great prizes to be won by schools or groups including:

*         A bike donated by Cyclesmith <http://cyclesmith.ca/>  to give
away to a lucky bike-minded student

*         A classroom kit of 30 pedometers

*         Reflective arm/leg bands for all students (up to 500)

*         Walking School Bus music CD and Ready to Ride story book
(elementary)

*         A $50 gift certificate to a local grocery store and $50 in
coupons for nutritious food

 

This year's theme is Walk to Breakfast. Consider organizing a Walk to
Breakfast IWALK event. The Organizer's Kit includes an event guide,
posters, nutritious breakfast recipes, healthy options for special
breakfast events and breakfast program fundraising ideas. Walk to
Breakfast is a partnership of Breakfast Clubs of Canada and the Ecology
Action Centre.

 

International Walk to School Month is coordinated by the Ecology Action
Center in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and
Wellness as part of the Active Kids Healthy Kids Initiative.
