Job Posting, Full-time permanent position

The Ecology Action Centre (EAC), established in 1971, is Nova Scotia's largest and most active environmental organization. We are seeking a full-time Volunteer and Events Coordinator to join our team. If you are committed to a career with volunteers and are inspired by making things happen, our fun and passion-filled workplace may be the place for you.
Overview of the Position
This role is a central one at the Ecology Action Centre. We hold three major fundraising events each year. They are reflect our values and are a critical part of keeping the Centre thriving financially. These events collectively contribute almost $50,000 to the EAC's operations. Plus, they are fun and engaging! The events are: Organic Christmas Tree Campaign, Bluenose Marathon Team - Green Avengers, our Garden Party and Auction. These events involve considerable volunteer participation and leadership. In total, approximately 300 volunteers work with the EAC in a wide variety of roles. Volunteers are engaged at all levels of the organization and we work to provide them with meaningful and productive ways to contribute to our mission. Volunteers bring grass roots engagement to our work, allow us to be effective with our resources, amplify the efforts of our staff, and bring a greater diversity to our organization.
In addition to supporting the overall functioning of the Ecology Action Centre and other duties as required, the Volunteer and Events Coordinator has two primary areas of responsibility:
Fundraising & Outreach Events assisting with logistics and ensuring the success of our three major fundraising events; thinking creatively about how to grow and evolve our event-based fundraising; coordinating or assisting with various other membership and outreach events.
Volunteer Coordination recruiting, training and supervising a team of ten front desk volunteers; attracting, appreciating, and supporting volunteers; and working closely with staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities; working with the Volunteer Committee.
