New Glasgow Farmers Market is looking for a Market Manager for the 2013

*Market Manager Job Description*
*Market Manager: *The services of a Manager will be contracted on an annual
basis to provide services that ensure the efficient and effective
day-to-day operation of the New Glasgow Farmers Market, as well as to
provide ongoing advice and assistance with market growth and development. **
*Reports to: *The New Glasgow Farmers’ Market Board.**
*Job Objective: *The manager of the NGFM is the individual* *responsible
for managing* *the day-to-day activity of the market from the opening day
in May (3rd Saturday) to the end of October (last Saturday). The manager
is also responsible for preparation activities for the market season
beginning in May. Within the season, the manager will liaison with the
NGFM Board to operate a successful market.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
· Ensure all preparation activities are completed for season opening
of the market
· Set-up and organize the building for market days, which will include
some physical labour
· Schedule vendors for the season and on a weekly basis
· Have the washroom schedule completed and posted in the vendors
washroom 2 weeks after the market opens**
· Maintain ongoing communication regarding overall operations of the
market and NGFM Rules & Regulations to vendors
· Confirm that all vendors are following the Dept. of Health
regulations
· Monitor vendors to ensure rules are being followed
· Organize and coordinate special day events
· Schedule entertainment and demos
· Assist vendors in presentation of booth to enhance and encourage
successful sales.

§ Collect table fees
§ Deposit cash in account
§ Weekly reports to treasurer
§ Record weekly tables - names and fees (computer generated table for
recording which can be emailed to board members )
*Marketing & Public Relations*
· Write a PSA each week for the upcoming market (by Thursday of the
week)**
· Communicate with the public in a respectful friendly manner
· Identify potential products and vendors, maximizing the diversity of
homemade and homegrown products of Pictou County sold at the market;
recruit new primary producers
*Administration duties*
· Maintain a current contact list of all vendors (members and casuals)
throughout the season
· Have a working knowledge of Excel, Word, Facebook, website, and email
· Prepare a final report for the season for the November board meeting
· Liaison with NGFM Board on a regular basis
· Report any problems, issues, complaints to the Chairperson. All
concerns and issues will be dealt with in a timely and respectful manner
· Refer any disputes between vendors and/or customers to the
chairperson to be resolved by the Board.
· Keep a weekly journal recording weather, entertainers, town
activities
*Hours and Wages*
Minimum of 15 hours, 6 of which are on Saturday 7:00-1:00.
