Description
Falls Brook Centre has an opening for a highly motivated, self-directed person to work as part of the Education Team. We are looking for someone who has creative drive and approachs education in a holistic way that can meet the needs of people with different age groups and experience. This position will involve working directly with communities who are linked to wetlands, coasts and shores through education, conservation and community engagement.
We are looking for someone who is well versed in current issues of sustainable development, climate change, social and environmental topics, organic agriculture and environmental education. Teaching experience and/or training is an asset. S/he is a quick and eager learner, can handle several tasks at once, and can work with others to develop innovative workshops and programs that work in and out of the classroom. From broad direction on a project, s/he can discern priorities, establish tasks to be done, carry them out with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
Water Education Program
Outreach to schools and local community groups
Develop and run the "Coastal Communities Conservation" project
Deliver educational programming in classrooms
Build upon and facilitate the current "Taking Action to Protect Water in NB" Project
Youth and Community Engagement
Assist with creating and delivering community workshops, activities and events throughout New Brunswick and the Maritimes
Develop promotional and educational materials
Falls Brook Centre Site
Assist with Falls Brook Centre events
Assist with day to day running of the site
Skills
Knowledge of wetland ecosystem monitoring
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Facilitation experience (workshops, classroom activities, community events)
Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, social media, Wordpress)
Bilingualism (English/French)
This is a full-time position with a preferred start date in early July. Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred and Spanish is an asset. The Water Education Coordinator must be comfortable working in a rural office environment as part of a small multi-disciplinary team. A vehicle is required as there will be regular travel throughout the province.
