JOB POSTING: Campaign Coordinator

Position Type: Short-term Contract, 24 hours/week
Salary: $16.83/hour
Duration: November 13, 2013–March 14, 2014                  
Deadline: October 30, 2013 5 p.m.
Location: Halifax, NS

Background:

The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) is a coalition of
individuals, organizations, and institutions working in the Atlantic region,

Reporting to the Acting Executive Director, the Campaign Coordinator will
work closely with ACIC staff, youth volunteers, members and other
stakeholders in the coordination and delivery of International Development
Week (IDW), within the context of a broader public engagement campaign
(http://2013.active8campaign.com/).The ideal candidate will have experience
facilitating public engagement activities and managing projects with diverse
stakeholders. S/he will have effective facilitation skills (particularly
with youth audiences), creative ideas, strong communication and writing
skills, and knowledge of international development issues. As a key member
of a small staff team, s/he must be able to work independently on a variety
of tasks, and to motivate others to participate.

Scope of Work:
Primary responsibilities include:
• Encouraging and facilitating broad-based participation in ACIC’s Active 8!
Campaign and regional IDW activities
• Providing support with review of proposals for selection of member
provincial lead organizations/institutions
• Conducting outreach work for the campaign, including but not limited to:
outreach with schools, school boards, dept. of education, youth groups,
universities, etc. 
• Conducting specific outreach within the francophone communities/schools in
the Atlantic region
• Supporting/coordinating the Active 8! Campaign calls for nominations and
selection processes
• Working with a website designer, videographer, suppliers and
communications staff to ensure a high quality web platform, videos and
materials related to the Active 8! Campaign are developed
• Planning, organizing and implementing training for selected Active 8!
Youth Ambassadors to share experiences, plan strategies and develop videos
and profiles to be disseminated as part of the Campaign in February 2014
• Managing the distribution of communications materials, in conjunction with
ACIC communications staff, to members, media outlets, relevant
organizations, community newspapers and other channels, across the Atlantic
Provinces
• Providing appropriate leadership, support and feedback to member
Provincial Lead organizations supporting Campaign activities and public
events to profile and recognize the eight youth Ambassadors 
• Ensuring IDW activities are completed according to the descriptions,
budget and timelines established
• Ensuring processes are undertaken to assess the effectiveness of each
activity
• Synthesizing data, preparing qualitative, quantitative and financial
reporting items, as necessary
• Documenting and reporting good practices and lessons learned

The Campaign Coordinator is also responsible for:
• Actively participating in staff meetings and providing input towards the
development of other organizational activities
• Providing administrative support, as requested
• Representing ACIC at events or external meetings, when requested
• Responding to general telephone and email inquiries
• Other duties, as assigned

Desired Qualifications:
• A minimum of two years recent and related experience, preferably within
international cooperation or public engagement spheres
• Knowledge of global development issues
• Project/program planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting
experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated
ability to work effectively with diverse groups
• Strong writing, formatting and editing skills
• Computer proficiency
• Detail-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to organize work, set
priorities, meet deadlines, monitor progress towards goals, and track
information
• A demonstrated ability to work independently on assigned duties and
projects
• Experience and/or interest in the NGO sector
• Ability to communicate in both official languages an asset
