FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
OCCUPY LOVE AT INVERNESS ACADEMY AND EDUCATION CENTRE
*Inverness, Nova Scotia - October 23, 2013* - The Inverness County chapter
of the Council of Canadians (COC) and Cinema Politica is launching this
season’s documentary film series with *Occupy Love* at the Inverness
Education Centre and Academy at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 1st.
This is the third year the COC has hosted the series with Cinema
Politica. Kelly
Baye, who coordinated the 2012/2013 season, says “It was a positive
experience! There was good attendance, new faces, informative discussions,
and some great free swaps of movies, books and seeds. Whycocomagh Education
Centre was a welcoming venue with fabulous technical support. We played
eight movies that were thought provoking and intriguing.”
This year the group has decided to share the documentaries in a wider
circle. “We wanted to make these enlightening documentaries available to as
many of our multiple community members as possible,” Baye says. The first
three screenings will be held at different locations: “Occupy Love” on
November in Inverness, “What Would Jesus Buy?” on November 20th at South
West Margaree and “Heart of Sky Heart of Earth” on December 11th in
Whycocomagh.
*Occupy Love*, a 2012 film by acclaimed director Velcrow Ripper, takes
viewers on a journey deep inside the revolution of the heart that is
erupting around the planet, as he asks the question, “How could the crisis
we are facing become a love story?” *It explores *the growing realization
that the dominant system of power is failing to provide us with health,
happiness or meaning. The old paradigm that concentrates wealth, founded
on the greed of the few, is causing economic and ecological collapse. The
resulting crisis has become the catalyst for a profound awakening:
millions of people are deciding that enough is enough – the time has come
to create a new world, a world that works for all life.
The film screens at 7 p.m. on November 1st at the Inverness Academy.
(Suggested donation $2.)
