** We're gearing up for Summer!
------------------------------------------------------------
The trees have finally budded up here in Glassville, and the garlic is poking its way through the straw of our raised bed garden. The sun is now more constant than not, and we're comforted to find that there are as many blackflies at our new site as there were in Knowlesville - hmmm...
But enough about us - what are your Summer plans!? What's in your garden!? What's on your BBQ!?
We're practically bubbling over with excitement at the things we have coming up in the next few months, and we hope we'll get to share a bunch of them with you! Read on, read on, to check out what we've been up to as well as our upcoming events!

** Project Webfoot
------------------------------------------------------------

Falls Brook Centre is excited to partner with Ducks Unlimited once again this year to deliver wetland education to local grade 4 students.
Throughout May and June Falls Brook Centre will welcome more than 600 students to explore our new site, learn about wetlands and all the amazing creatures that live in them.
Falls Brook Centre believes strongly that outdoor, hands-on education is important and effective. Having students to our site to learn about wetlands gives them a wetland experience which is fun and educational.
So, if you see a bunch of muddy kids getting off the bus, you know where they've been! Remember Falls Brook Centre is open Mon-Fri 9-5. Come on by and have your own wetland adventure!

** Breaking Ground...
------------------------------------------------------------

Check out our newest building on-site! This fine structure houses two composting toilets that produce nutrient-rich compost for trees and diverts liquids through a rizofiltration system.
Though we may say so ourselves - these are pretty classy loos!

** Summer Lovin': A new twist on Trout!
------------------------------------------------------------
'Cause it's grillin' season!

Preheat your BBQ on high heat. Slash each trout with a knife, about ten times on each side. Each slash should be about 0.5cm deep. Rub the trout with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Stuff the cavities with plenty of chopped parsley and lemon slices. Place the fish side by side on a baking rack over a roasting tray, or wrap in aluminium foil.
Top the fish with lemon zest and place a lemon (halved) on the tray too. Dot the trout with butter and place it 15cm from the flame. Cook for around 6 minutes on each side until crispy and golden.
Squeeze the roasted lemon over the top of the fish and serve with a simple dandelion green salad (make sure you pick the young leaves!) topped with candied walnuts, cranberries, goat's cheese and a simple vinagrette.

** Check out our upcoming events!

And don't forget about FREE SCHOOL!

It’s that time of the year again and Falls Brook Centre is gearing up for our 6th Annual Free School! Join us for a weekend of teaching and learning, thinking and doing, voicing, dancing, music-making – and more!
As you well know, Free School isn’t really school at all. Education can happen anywhere, and it does. The Falls Brook Free School creates an open learning environment that promotes and encourages everyone to teach and learn. We have a wealth of knowledge in our communities and rarely have the opportunity to learn from our neighbours or share our own knowledge.

Workshops really are the highlight of Free School – and we’re looking for workshop leaders. Start thinking about the skills you have that you could pass on to others. We're also looking for musicians, artists and performers to round out what will be the best weekend of the Summer! For more information or to book your gig, contact Emily: ** emily at fallsbrookcentre.ca (mailto:emily at fallsbrookcentre.ca)
