Meeting and Family Nature weekendis happeningMay
30 - June 1 atThe Gaelic College (www.gaeliccollege.edu) in beautiful St. Ann's Bay Cape Breton
There will be the
usual mix of presentations, field trips and social activities to reconnect with
other naturalists around the Province - and once again we will be offering
concurrent youth programming with the Young Naturalists Club
Some of the
presenters lined up include:
·Erich Muntz – coyote research findings
and hiker safety, CBHNP
·Deanne van Rooyen – geology of Cape
Breton, CBU
·Peter Austin Smith - Pine Martin
Introduction to Cape Breton, NS DNR
· Wally Ellison - visual tour of the Waterfalls
of Cape Breton
Young Naturalists will also be learning about Coyotes and the Geology of Cape Breton along with discovering traditional uses of native plants and dying wool with some of them. There will be lots of outdoor games and nature crafts as well.
Some great field
trips are in the works including a hike to the Usige Ban Waterfalls and a boat
trip to Bird Island.
