Position: Interim Chapter Coordinator

Sierra Club Canada Foundation - Atlantic Chapter is searching for an experienced, energetic, and organized individual to help coordinate Chapter volunteers & campaigns. This position also includes leading our participation in an environmental assessment for the Black Point Quarry.
About Sierra Club Canada Foundation
The mission of the Sierra Club Canada Foundation is to advance the preservation and protection of the natural environment with charitable resources. The Atlantic Chapter of Sierra Club has a long history of working with children and youth to teach them about local ecological features and how to become active in their communities. Our Atlantic Canada Chapter works on issues and programs in all four Atlantic provinces, including: fracking, protecting the Gulf of St. Lawrence, education & awareness of endangered and vulnerable species (like the blue whale and sharks), Wild Child Nature Immersion, mine and quarry impacts, and promoting solutions to climate change.
Duties
Facilitate development projects: lead proposal writing & submission, corporate and direct fundraising
Coordinate participation in Black Point Quarry environmental assessment (organize community meetings, work with consultant, report writing)
Help create and maintain project budgets
Provide support to campaign coordinators and Chapter leadership committee
Work planning and tracking
Volunteer coordination
Administration: ensuring paperwork, financial info is organized and on track (National office performs bookkeeping tasks)
Reports to: Chapter Steering Committee & National Operations Director & Board
Qualifications
Experience and success in fundraising
Background in environmental science, biology, or related field
Experience working in the non-governmental sector
Excellent communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Experience in managing projects & reporting to funders
Ability to prioritize tasks and develop work plans
Familiarity with environmental assessment processes an asset
Term: February 1 July 31, 2015
Hours: Part time, ~408 hours over 6 months or average 2 days a week. Please note hours worked per week may vary depending on project deliverables.
Renumeration: Dependent on experience.
